While attending Kent State University I took one geography course, "Geography of South Asia" it was on India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Little did I know at the time that I would be visiting Pakistan and Afghanistan.

However, I began to think about going to Afghanistan in 1983. It started with prayer to go to a place I pick out on a map of the country called Asmar in Kunar Providence which is in eastern Afghanistan.

I got job at King Khalid Eye Hospital in Saudi Arabia, in 1984 which provided the means to take me down the path which starts in Pakistan.

To understand war you must first realize that it is a medical event.
